Prepare for Membership

  1. Familiarize yourself with the goals, objectives and standards required for KAP certification and membership.
  2. Stay up to day regarding current and pending state and federal legislation that affects the dog breeding industry.
  3. Adhere to all state and federal laws.
  4. Prepare the appropriate plans to address the required standards of the KAP program.
  5. Partner with your local veterinarian to address the veterinary care of your dog(s) and gain approval of the Veterinary Care Plan, if required.
  6. Address the animal care needs of your dog(s) to be in accordance with KAP standards.
  7. Review and update facility requirements to adhere to KAP requirements.
  8. Adopt and promote the KAP Re-Homing program.

Apply For KAP Membership

  1. Indicate your interest to Join KAP and get mentored by a current member.
  2. Complete the KAP Application.
  3. Submit your completed application and supporting documentation.
  4. Your KAP Mentor will contact you to --
    • set a date for a Kennel inspection, and
    • share suggestions to improve your plan.
  5. Upon successful completion of the program, including Kennel inspection and submission of required documentation, you will receive KAP certification and recognition as a KAP member.
